A listing from a description
I designed a smart listing input for Tilt’s seller portal. Sellers could type or speak a product description, and the input would pull the relevant details into the listing properties. I owned the interaction design, working with a product owner and engineering team. The input shipped as part of the seller tools.
I mapped the steps between pressing the microphone and getting an editable description. Starting the transcription service had its own state, followed by a prompt to speak. As the seller spoke, product details appeared alongside a waveform and a control to finish.
Once capture ended, the seller could edit the description. If the service failed to start, the input returned to idle with a short retry message. Typed entry followed the same approach: detect product details while the seller wrote, then tidy spacing, capitalisation and punctuation when they left the field.
Each state needed to make the next step clear: wait for the microphone, start speaking, finish capture or correct the result. Keeping the description editable gave sellers a way to fix details before using them in a listing.
